Reasons to Install Semi-Frameless Shower Screens in Your Bathroom

Blog

When researching what options are available in glass shower screens, you'll come across different framing variations. While some enclosures, like frameless showers, have barely any supporting metal hardware, fully framed models have metal edging around all four side of each panel. Lying in between these two extremes is a semi-frameless variety. Consider the following reasons to install one of these designs in your bathroom.

Sleek Appearance

With a semi-framed enclosure, metal trim will feature in some areas, but it won't cover all edges. For instance, often, the top and bottom of the glass screens are framed, as are the sides that affix to tiled walls. This leaves the vertical joins between the screens mostly clear of framing. They'll connect by means such as discreet brackets to give your shower a sleek, elegant look. As a result, you'll enjoy a similar effect to a frameless shower at a more economical price.

Decorative Glass Options

Your semi-framed enclosure will consist of toughened safety glass as regulated by building codes. Besides that, though, you can choose between decorative glass options that will work in the space. For example, you could install frosted glass with an even cloudy finish that provides a private shower experience. As well as uniform sheen, you can select from a range of frosted designs that blend with different decors. For example, in a traditional bathroom, you could go with delicate filigree patterns. In a funky bathroom, though, you could install screens with circles and squares. Other decorative glass types on offer include patterned glass, also in numerous designs, and toned glass in hues such as bronze, grey and blue. While these forms of ornamental glass produce a more private shower, clear glass will evoke a sense of openness and space.

Door Possibilities

With your semi-frameless shower, you can set it up with varying door styles. Your bathroom might be best served with an outward swinging door if it has ample room. Other possibilities are a pivot door that revolves on a hinge. To save space in a small bathroom, install a sliding or bypass door that won't protrude into the general room area.

Easy Cleaning

Metal framing provides edges where soap scum can catch, and thus you need to pay special attention to such crevices when cleaning. With less vertical edging, semi-frameless models have fewer places where scum can build, and therefore, they're easier to clean than fully framed models.

How to Choose Pool Fence Glass

If you've decided to use a glass fence around your pool, you need to decide what kind of glass to put in the fence. While you can just go for regular fence glass, it's worth thinking about other options as well, especially if you want to make your pool stand out. Is all pool fencing glass strong enough to cope with your manic kids and dog? Read on....you'll find the answers to your questions (and to some questions you didn't know you had!) here.
